To inspect the quality of the screens for mobile phones produced by Company X, two separate inspection devices are used to test the screens for defects. Basically, a specific screen is tested once using the two inspection devices. Device 1 can detect the presence of defects 99.3% of the time, whereas Device 2 can detect defects 99.7% of the time. Assume that the 2 devices are operating independently from each other.
One day, four defective screens were sent for inspection. Let X represent the number of screens that will be correctly tagged as defective by Device 1, while Y represents the number of screens that will be correctly tagged as defective by Device 2. Determine the following:a.) fXY(x,y)b.) fX (x)c.) E(X)
15 (no. of cabinets), 10 (no. of tables), and 2200 (max. profit) are wrong.
Variable Y represents the profit (in thousand of dollars ) of an indoor heating repairs firm in asmall town , over four consecutive months. The variable X1 represents the average outsidetemperature for the month, and the variable X2 represents the average number of dailycustomer complements(positive) or complaints(negative). For a month in which X2 is positivethere were more complements than complaints but for a month in which X2 is negative therewere more complaints than compliments. Using the information about variablesMonth X1 X2 YNOVEMBER -5 5 11DECEMBER -4 4 11JANUARY -1 1 8FEBRUARY 2 -3 2
i. Determine by a matrix method the equation of the line of regression for Y on X1 andX2.ii. Use your results in i. to predict the expected profit of the firm in a month where theaverage outside temperature was -2 degrees and the average number of dailycustomers compliment was 3.

- The Reception of the Laweh Graduate School receives external telephone calls. Due to certain difficulties, it is only one person who is taking care of the Reception Area. Ms. Jennifer, the receptionist wants to vacate her post for lunch between the hours of 1 and 2 pm. She knows that, the average number of phone calls received on the switchboard per hour is 2. However, what she does not know is the number of calls she will miss during the period. The scores ranged from 0 to 600 (for people who were 10 minutes late). The teacher also has each person's exam average over the semester. An analysis reveals that in the Mississauga location, it costs CM (q) = 1 q3 + 10000 (dollars) 50 to produce q widgets in a month, while in the Scarborough location it costs CS (q) = q2 + 20000 (dollars) to produce q widgets in a month. The company needs to fulfill orders for a total of 400 widgets in the month of March 2023. (a) How many widgets should each location be assigned to produce so that the total cost of production is minimized? (b) Due to differences in quality control and shipping costs, company XYZ decides to sell widgets produced at each factory at different price levels: widgets produced in Mississauga are to be sold for $2000 each, and widgets produced in Scarborough for $2800 each. Show that it is most profitable for the company to allocate all production to Scarborough.arrow_forward
- Accounting procedures allow a business to evaluate their inventory costs based on two methods: LIFO (last in first out) or FIFO (first in first out). A manufacturer evaluated its finished goods inventory (in $000s) for five products with the LIFO and FIFO methods. To analyze the difference, they computed FIFO − LIFO for each product. You suspect that the number of customers buying ice cream probably depends on several factors. What factors do you think might affect the number of customers buying ice cream? As the store manager, how could you tell if these factors do have an effect? How would you collect data for these factors? Make sure you include possible difficulties which you may encounter. How could you generalize or predict from your data? How much faith do you have in your predictions? Explain.
