Introduction: Folic acid is a form of folate (B vitamin) and is mostly found in dark green vegetables like spinach and broccoli, legumes like beans and peas, and enriched grains. Folic acid helps in the formation of red blood cells. Its consumption during or prior to pregnancy in an adequate amount reduces the baby’s risk of serious neural tube defects.
