Interpretation:
Two amino acids that deviate from Ramachandran plot should be determined.
Concept introduction:
In a peptide chain, the bond between amino group and alpha C and the bond between alpha C and carbonyl group are single bonds. So, the peptide can rotate about these bonds. This freedom of rotation allows the peptide to fold into different tertiary structures. These rotations can be specified by torsion angles. The angle of rotation between N and alpha C is called ? and the angle of rotation between alpha C and carbonyl C is denoted by ?. All the ? and ? values are not possible. The allowed values are presented in a 2-D plot called Ramachandran plot.
