The heart is a four-chambered muscular organ. The cardiovascular system consists of the heart, blood vessels, and the blood. The main functions of the cardiovascular system are the transport of nutrients, oxygen, and hormones to the cells throughout the body and the removal of wastes such as nitrogenous compounds and carbon dioxide.
