Summary Introduction
The molecular study of microbial communities is known as environmental genomics or metagenomics. Earlier, microbial community analyses targeted to the diversity of an individual gene in an environmental sample. Currently, the environmental genomics are used to target all genes in the microbial community. The information obtained from metagenomics may help to understand the structure and function of the metabolically active microbial community.
