Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Hemostasis is defined as the process of stopping of bleeding. There are hemostatic mechanisms within the body designed to prevent blood loss, which, if continued unchecked, may lead to death.
Blood coagulation is regulated by both a positive feedback mechanism that quickly increases the rate of clot formation and by a negative control mechanism that quickly decreases the rate of clot formation.
