Chapter 18.4, Problem 3LO
Summary Introduction
To determine: The result of the ENCODE project in identifying functional elements of the human genome.
Introduction: ENCODE or Encyclopedia of DNA Elements is a project established to identify the coding or functional elements present in the human genome. The functional element refers to the coding sequences of the DNA, which constitutes only about 1.5%, whereas the ‘junk DNA or non-coding sequences’ constitutes for about 99%.
