Summary Introduction

To determine:

The term “blood doping” and also determine why an athlete would be banned for blood doping.

Concept introduction:

The body has a property to compensate the decreased supply of oxygen in the body by increasing the number of erythrocyte per unit volume in blood. This property is beneficial for sportsperson or an athlete as it would enhance their endurance and body’s ability to supply oxygen to the body muscle. Athletes enhance their blood’s ability by increasing their erythrocyte numbers naturally by training at higher altitudes. But some athletes by illegal and artificial mean enhance their blood’s ability which is known as blood doping.
