Introduction:

Vitamins play a vital role in normal processing of the digestion, absorption and metabolism of the food. Vitamins are the organic compounds made by the plants and the animals. Our body cannot synthesize vitamins; therefore, we need to take it with food. Vitamins help in regulating the normal body functions of the body.

Fat soluble vitamins are those vitamins which are soluble in fats. Fat soluble vitamins require bile salts for their absorption. These vitamins are generally stored I the liver of the body.

Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin, which acts like steroids in the body.
