Introduction:

The autonomic nervous system is also known as the visceral motor system. It includes processes controlled below the conscious level. It starts and transfers nerve impulses from the CNS (central nervous system) to cardiac muscle, smooth muscle, and glands. Despite having the name “autonomic,” the ANS is not independent, and it is a controlled nervous system.
