Concept introduction: Polyprotic protons are those which have more than one ionizable proton. The strength of the acid depends on the number of protons it is producing. The acid dissociation constant also tells us to what extent the acid has been dissociated. When the acid has a greater number of ionizable protons, it will be giving each proton in successive steps.
