- Electrolysis is the process in which the
electric current is used for the initiation of a non-spontaneous reaction. The process is widely used for the separation of elements from a mixture or ore. The process of electrolysis is carried out in an electrolytic cell. Electroplating is one of the important application of electrolysis. In electroplating electric current is used to deposit the metal ions from the solution to the electrode surface. - The amount of electrical charge that is passing through a circuit depends upon the amount and time of the flow of current. The electrical charge is measured in Coulomb.
