Introduction:
Threonine dehydrogenase is the enzyme which is responsible for the breakdown of threonine. This enzyme also catalyzes the conversion of threonine to α-ketobutyrate and ammonia. The PLP or pyridoxal phosphate acts as the cofactor in the conversion of threonine to α-ketobutyrate and ammonia.
