The thyroid hormones are released from the thyroid gland that is located below the larynx. The triiodothyronine (T3) hormone and thyroxine (T4) hormone are the iodine containing thyroid hormones. They are lipid-soluble hormones as a result, they are involved directly in protein synthesis and gene transcription.
