The effect of an elevated circulating level of cortisol, a steroid hormone from the adrenal cortex and its effect on the pituitary secretion of ACTH.

Introduction:

The cortisol is secreted from the zona fasciculate cells in the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland. It also secretes corticosterone and cortisone.  It occurs after the stimulation of pituitary gland by the ACTH (Adrenocorticotrophic hormone). It occurs in the feedback loop.
