Introduction:

When transcription activator proteins bind to the regulatory promoter sequences of gene, they regulate the stability of basal transcription apparatus present at core promoter and stimulate the process of transcription.

The basal transcription apparatus binds to a gene’s core promoter which carries out minimal level of transcription. Transcriptional regulatory proteins bind to regulatory promoter of a gene and carries out normal level of transcription. These regulatory proteins could be an enhancer or repressor of transcription process.
