The importance of AV node delay.

Introduction:

Pacemaker action potentials spread quickly through the heart by a group of interconnected pacemaker cells. Three such population of pacemaker cells aresinoatrial (SA) node, atrioventricular (AV) node, and purkinje fiber system. SA node is agroup of cells located in the right atrium, slightly inferior and lateral to the opening of superior vena cava. On the other hand, AV node ispresent posterior and medial toright atrioventricular valve.
