The anatomical relationship between the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland; two main parts of the pituitary gland and their communication with the hypothalamus.

Introduction:

The hypothalamus and the pituitary gland are primarily involved in the endocrine hormone cascade pathway and they stimulate signals to their target glands or organs. When the hypothalamus receives signals from nerves, it produces neuroendocrine signals to other endocrine glands. It maintains homeostasis and regulates body temperature, hunger, sleep, and reproduction. It also regulates certain metabolism and the autonomic nervous system.
