Bacteriophages are the viruses that infect bacteria. They were discovered by Twort and Herelle in 1915. They are also called bacteria eater. They are made up of proteins that cover their genetic material. They grow and increase their number inside a bacterium. They show both the lytic and the lysogenic cycles.
