Concept explainers
To explain: The reason for the change of reflection of light from diffuse to specular if water is spilled on a ground glass.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction :
Reflection is the property of light. In reflection, light incident on the polished surface gets reflected back into the same medium. In diffuse reflection, the rays reflected from the surface are unparalleled. In specular reflection, the rays reflected from the surface are at the same angle.
Specular reflection takes place on a smooth surface. So when water spills on the ground glass, the water fills the pores and makes the surface smooth due to which specular reflection occurs.
