The situational theory of leadership significantly points out the importance of the followers in determining the performance of the leader. It is upon the followers to determine the acceptability of a leader and recognize him for his contribution. When the followers reject the contribution of the leader outright, the leader becomes ineffective and incompetent to carry on the task of leading his/her followers into achieving the desired outcomes with the combined contribution from leaders and followers.
