Differences between scaling up and scaling out with respect to scalability:

Scaling upScaling out
It is the process of replacing resources in the system with more powerful resourcesIt is the process of adding new resources to an existing system.
It is also called as concurrent programming.It is also called as distributed programming.
It is costlier than scaling out.It is cost effective.
Example: If the computer runs out of resources, it is not necessary to make changes with the computer instead, the memory can be increased.Example: Adding extra web server in order to work along with the existing one.
