Hormones are the chemical messengers secreted by the endocrine organs. Hormones travel via the bloodstream to their target organs. They have different chemical structures, based upon which they are divided into three types, eicosanoids, steroids, and amino acids. Hormones regulate most of the body’s biochemical functions.
