Answer to Problem 7STP
C. Sodium (Na)
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The group 1 elements are arranged based on their nature of the reaction and some of the metals are called alkali metals like lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, caesium.
From the given table the element sodium (Na) is expected to be in group 1. Sodium is the alkali metal and has more tendency to donate its valence electrons in its outer shell to form a strong ionic bond (all alkali metals in group 1 do the same).
Sodium (Na) is a soft silvery-white alkali element and is the sixth most abundant metal on the earth.
Conclusion:
From the given table the sodium (Na) element is expect to be in the group 1.
