Introduction:

Genetic drift is the frequency change of an allele referred in a population due to random sampling of individuals. It is one of the key mechanisms that lead to evolution. Genetic drift not occurs due to natural selection. It occurs by chance and some individuals are able to leave behind more genes (by leaving behind more descendants) than other individuals. It is not necessary that these individuals were the fittest or healthiest of all, but they were surely the luckiest of all.
