An example of a phenotype distribution curve for a population undergoing directional selection that is increasing in body size.

Introduction:

Directional selection is a type of selection, in which the population mean becomes stable on a particular extreme value. It favors individuals with one extreme phenotype and is against the other extreme phenotype. For example: Long wiggly tails in lizards make them look like snakes and scare predators. Short or medium-sized tails are not suited.
