In muscle contraction, myosin filaments are being slide along the actin filaments. According to Albert Szent’s experiments, it is proven that the ATP hydrolysis and association and dissociation of actin and myosin complex are coupled. Energy released by ATP hydrolysis is used to power the muscle contraction.
