Chapter 16, Problem 10TYK
Summary Introduction

To analyze: The differences between a unicellular green algae and a single–celled photosynthetic bacterium. The difference in features of an amoeba and a large green algae such as sea lettuce.

Introduction:

The unicellular green algae are small unicellular organisms with the presence of green plastids containing chloroplasts. They prepare food by fixing photosynthesis by absorbing sunlight. The single-celled photosynthetic bacterium is called as cyanobacteria, which have green chloroplasts for the process of photosynthesis.

Amoebas are small protozoans with the presence of small food and contractile vacuoles. The outer surface forms pseudopodia, which helps in the movement of these organisms. The sea lettuce or Ulva has long branched leaves with a multicellular thallus. They also have the pigment chlorophyll for initiating the process of photosynthesis.
