Concept Introduction:
Radioactive isotopes are used to treat cancer but at the same time they also cause cancer. Radiation from radioactive isotopes causes damage to the living cells and this damage depends on the intensity and length of radiation exposure. Almost all the natural things, such as soil, granite, water, food as well as air contains radioactive nuclides. The intensity of radiation varies from source to source. Also, the inhalation of radon gas causes lung cancer.
