Introduction:
The autonomic nervous system consists of sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. These systems arise from the midbrain with preganglionic nerve fibers and ends in the effector through postganglionic fibers. These nerve fibers synthesize neurotransmitters namely acetyl choline or epinephrine. Acetylcholine-synthesizing fibers are termed cholinergic, and epinephrine-synthesizing fibers are termed adrenergic.
