Explanation The sympathetic and parasympathetic systems of autonomic nervous innervate much of the visceral organs, like heart, kidney and muscles systems. The sympathetic system innervation speed up the heart beat and parasympathetic division to slow down the heart beat rate. Both these innervation sometimes bring a cooperative and as well as antagonistic effect. Such an innervation is so called the dual innervation but this dual innervation is not applicable to all the viscera with some exceptions, so are blood vessels in the circulatory system. The blood vessels are innervated by the sympathetic nervous system by the adrenergic nerves. They are regulated by means of norepinephrine and acetyl choline mediated neurotransmitters.
