- Loss of natural resources- Loss of biodiversity would result in loss of natural resources like trees, water, minerals, plants, animals, clean air etc. Because of the ever growing human population there is an increased demand for natural resources. A long term plan for their use and conservation is important. Conservation of resources includes reducing the consumption of resources, recycling resources and preserving ecosystems, as well as using them in a responsible manner.
- Pollution- Forests are considered lungs of biosphere. With declining forest cover, the toxic gases and carbon dioxide levels in eth air would increase leading to global warming and other aspects of climate change. Pollution changes the composition of air, water and land. Biodiversity plays a major role in keeping the pollution levels under check.
