The autonomic nervous system has two subdivisions namely sympathetic and parasympathetic. Sympathetic system works under flight and fight response. Parasympathetic works on rest and digest. Both the system innervates the same organ system like heart, kidney, lungs, and gonads. Both the system works in a target organ based on counter current feedback mechanism.
