What are the present-day obstacles to interstellar space travel?
The present-day obstacles to interstellar space travel.
Answer to Problem 12A
Fuel energy and radiation.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction: Interstellar travels means traveling beyond stars, galaxies.
To travel such a large distance beyond galaxies, ultimate speed is required. Such that, the gravity of star clusters, black hole, etc, do not pull the spaceship and get destroyed. For safe travels, spaceship must travel with light speed which requires a huge amount of fuel energy. Also, the spaceship must be protected from radiation inside and on the boundary. Otherwise, the crew will turn into a meat-bag of cancer.
Conclusion: Thus, for interstellar travels huge fuel energy and protection from radiation is a must.
