All the type I hypersensitivity reactions have a common mechanism which is the immediate onset of allergic reactions against specific antigens. There is two level of hypersensitivity: atopy and anaphylaxis. Atopic allergy is a chronic local allergy and anaphylaxis is a systemic allergic reaction that includes obstruction of the airway and circulatory obstruction.
