Introduction:
The operon is a system in which the genes related to a single pathway are present adjacent to each other. In an operon, the genes, the operator site, and the promoter site are present close to each other. The switching on and off of the operon is regulated by the product of a regulatory gene, which may or may not be present close to the genes of an operon.
