To describe:
The role of pH in regulating the interaction between mannose 6-phosphate and M6P receptor and to describe the reason behind the secretion of the lysosomal protein into the extracellular medium.
Introduction:
Mannose-6-phosphate receptor is a multifunctional protein compound that binds to the Manno-6-phosphate compounds at the cellular surface. The main function of M6P receptor is to transport the M6P enzymes into the lysosomes. Mannose-6-phosphate contain acid hydrolases and these are transported into the ER lumen by the M6P receptors. Mannose-6-phosphate and M6P receptor react where pH value plays a vital role. They bind in the trans-Golgi complex where the pH vale is around 6.5 and releases the compound inside the endosomes where the pH value is less around 5.5 at the cellular surface.
