Explanation Conus medullaris is the region where the spinal cord terminates in a conical and a tapering structure. It is inferior to the enlargement of the lumbar region. Filum terminale is basically terminal filament, which is an extension of the pia mater that runs inferiorly and unites with the dura and arachnoid mater and then further anchors the spinal cord with the coccyx.
