Introduction:

In today’s world of opportunities and competition, the employees always need to be creative to project themselves among the crowd. The organization creates various opportunities to bring out the creative talents of employees. They conduct brainstorming sessions where the end number of creative ideas are generated is one such example but are the employees duly recognized for the ideas they develop is now a big question.

As the chapter describes some studies have shown that fear of ideas being taken over decreases creativity. Lobel and Amir developed a virtual workplace and then put the participants to study on two conditions. One group was asked to sign their creative ideas in return for a reward whereas the other group need not sign over their ideas. The study found that the first group had reduced performance than the second one. Thus stealing of employee ideas result in decreased performance in the long run.
