Introduction:
The spinal cord is a long tubular structure that is made up of nervous tissue. It originates from the medulla oblongata and ends in the lumbar region of the vertebral column. The outer region of the spinal cord contains white matter while the inner portion contains grey matter. The white matter allows communication between the spinal cord and the brain as they have myelinated as well as unmyelinated axons.
