The balanced chemical equation for the combustion of benzene (C6H6) in air is,

2C6H6(g)+15O2(g)12CO2(g)+6H2O(l)

The standard heat of combustion for gaseous benzene is 82.9kJ/mol.

The molar mass of benzene (C6H6) is 78.11g/mol.

There are 2 moles of benzene consumed during the combustion. Thus, the total mass of benzene (C6H6) is,

2×78.11g/mol=156.22g/mol

The fuel value is calculated by the formula,

Fuelvalue=HeatofcombustionTotalmassofthesubstance (1)

Substitute the value of heat of combustion and total mass of benzene in equation (1).
