The enthalpy of formation of formamide is 251kJ/mol.

The enthalpy of formation of methyl formate is 391kJ/mol.

The balanced chemical equation for the combustion of formamide is,

The enthalpy change of the combustion reaction of formamide is calculated by the formula,

ΔH=nΔH(products)mΔH(reactants)=(ΔHCO2(g)+ΔHNO2(g)+32ΔHH2O(l))(ΔHCHONH2+3ΔHO2(g))

Substitute the values of ΔHCO2(g), ΔHNO2(g), ΔHH2O(l), ΔHCHONH2 and ΔHO2(g) from appendix 4 in equation.

ΔH=((1×393.5kJ/mol+1×33.2kJ/mol+32×285.83kJ/mol)(1×251kJ/mol+3×0.0kJ/mol))=538.05kJ/mol
