The results of Mendel’s experiments on the Pisum sativum, if the genes responsible for shape and color of the seed were linked with 10 units map distance. Also, discuss the results of Morgan’s experiment on Drosophila if the genes responsible for the color of the body and the shape of the wings were not linked.
Introduction:
Linked genes are those, which are present at a very short distance and they get inherited as a unit thereby, deviate from the normal Mendel ratios. Unlinked genes are those, which are not inherited together and they get segregated and assorted independently of each other.
Pea plant seven characters are not linked to each other and hence, are not inherited as a unit. In the case of Drosophila, the genes for wings characteristics and body color are linked. The results will drastically change with the conditions reversed leading to entire different ratios.
