To determine: The reason that mitochondrial mutations are more harmful to males as compared to females.

Introduction: Mutation can be defined as a mismatch or alternation of sequences of nucleotides within the genome of an organism. Mutations which are associated with mitochondria include changes in reactions of electron transport, faulty transcription of DNA (Deoxyribose nucleic acid) and production of harmful oxygen free radicals.
