Importance of placing organisms into taxonomic groups

Introduction:

New species are discovered by biologists day by day. It has been estimated that Earth has between 5 and 50 million different species. So, biologists try to group the species based on their evolutionary history. Species that have recent common ancestors are grouped together. And species which have very distant common ancestors fall into different groups. This classification is called taxonomy.
