Q3: Three rods are connected and placed between rigid supports at A and D, as shown in Figure. The bars are initially unstressed at 20°C. After the temperature has been increased to 100°C, determine: (a) the normal stresses in the three rods, (b) the reactions at the supports, and (c) the displacements of points B and C relative to support A. Aluminum (1) A₁ = 1,200 mm² Cast Iron (2) Bronze (3) A₂ = 2,800 mm² A3 = 800 mm² E₁ = 70 GPa E₂ =155 GPa E3 = 100 GPa a₁ = 22.5 x 10-6°C a2 = 13.5 x 10 °C a3 = 17.0 × 10-6°C A Aluminum (1) Cast iron (2) Bronze (3) B C D 440 mm 200 mm 320 mm □ O ▷
Problem 3 - The School or Aeronautics is doing some weather evaluations using a helium-filled spherical balloon with a radius of 12 inches. The balloon and associated instrumentation weigh 0.1 lbf. Determine the terminal ascent velocity of the balloon if the air temperature is 60°F. The terminal ascent velocity is based on when the balloon's velocity is constant (no 4 Volume πρ Sphere 3 acceleration). The volume of the balloon is where r is the radius. Use a temperature of 60°F to determine the air properties. The problem is an iterative problem but limit the number of iterations to 2 and make sure you explain the solution process and the equations required. Although not required creating a free-body diagram may make solving the problem easier. Do not spend time trying to create the final numerical solution.
I don't want the solution to be from artificial intelligence. If the solution is sent from artificial intelligence, I will file a complaint to the application because I have an important study
