Introduction:

The muscle group of the posterior leg includes soleus, plantaris, and gastrocnemius. These muscles are also called calf muscles. These muscles constitute the superficial muscle of the posterior compartment of the leg. The muscles in the anterior leg include tibialis anterior, extensor halluces longus, and fibularistertius. This group of muscles invert and dorsiflex the foot at the ankle joint.
