Summary Introduction

To explain: Some molecules are at equilibrium across a biological membrane and yet their concentration on the both sides of the membrane is different.

Concept introduction: The electrical potential difference throughout the biological membrane that particularly balances the concentration gradient for a charged molecule is called equilibrium potential. The equilibrium distribution of molecules throughout the cell membrane mainly caused due to the chemical gradient and the membrane potential.
