The compound $\left(\text{Z}\right)$-3-hexenyl acetate is one of several volatile organic signaling compounds released from Arabidopsis leaves when they are damaged.¹⁰ Propose a synthesis of this compound using ethylene $\left({\text{H}}_2\text{C}=\text{C}{\text{H}}_2\right)$ and acetic acid $\left(\text{C}{\text{H}}_3\text{C}{\text{O}}_2\text{H}\right)$ as your only sources of carbon atoms.
