Carbonated beverages are prepared by dissolving carbon dioxide in beverages at high pressure. According to “like dissolve like� principle, as carbon dioxide is nonpolar, less amount of carbon dioxide is soluble in water at normal atmospheric pressure. Thus, during preparation of carbonated beverages, more amount of carbon dioxide is dissolved in water at high pressure, according to Henry’s law.
